It has been a while again, lets take off from where i left you last – the concert Pure Music in Het Klokhuis.
Pure Music turned literally into pure happiness with Soline Ballet, FLOATSTONE & Yves Robyns. A great night celebrating Soline’s first big solo performance and our new musical friendship with FLOATSTONE.
My work as a teacher influences strongly my development as a concert pianist. I’m so grateful for those magical and humble moments in the pianolessons which inspire me while performing solo. Since Yves and i started with HeliStudio music has become something we love to share with others – everyone has their own personal sound! It is such a great joy to see everyone reaching their personal musical milestones at all levels.
At this concert i also had the honor to play première of a pianopiece An Incomplete Doubt by Tomas Ooms. By now this piece has become a part of complete Piano Suite and Tomas is busy composing a piano concerto. Tomas is kind of a modern Mozart in HeliStudio – every pianolesson begins with his own music and these are truly magical moments. Looking forward to share more of his music with you soon!
It was clear that our trip with Soline to Estonia in summer 2013 had inspired her – her singing style is more daring and free. She is the first ‘songbird’ in HeliStudio ready to take on bigger podiums and challenges.
Belgian singer-songwriter FLOATSTONE – Brick De Bois – has also link with Estonia. In May he performed at singer-songwriter festival Mailaul in Tartu. In order to melt all cold Estonian hearts in Tartu (which he did!) FLOATSTONE prepared 2 songs in Estonian and the concert Pure Music was the right place to try out his beautiful Estonian language.
I’d like to share 3 great moments with you from PURE MUSIC in Het Klokhuis, filmed by Cy Leong:
Heli loves to perform Estonian piano music.
Yves talks most through the piano.
Soline sings from her heart.
FLOATSTONE makes you listen and cherish the moment.
Together we bring you an evening with PURE MUSIC.

Upcoming student recital will take place on saturday 23rd of November at 14:00 in Het Klokhuis, Parochiaanstraat 4-4a. Be there to witnes our growing talents and people who are passionate about music! In the program piano and voice, musical styles from classics to modern.
It has become a tradition for us to start a new schoolyear with a performance in Dageraadplaats. It was great fun with Ella, Zoë, Lola & Rocco and Nathan & Clara. I was sincerely impressed with everyone and I feel very inspired to create more venues for our growing talent.
As a teacher my goal is that the piano will become a sort of life long companion to all my students. It’s not as important to become the best pianist, but it is necessary to be the best person you can be and I believe music has a very significant role in this evolution.
I feel so grateful for this amazing journey with great people!
In my mind I’ve been writting many chapters in this blog, however there is just one reason it hasn’t been happening: Robin-Aare. Our Little Prince who seems to grow quicker than what my mind can grasp. It took him 10 months and 18 days to reach to the pianokeys on his own!
The third schoolyear in HeliStudio ended in high spirits with a student recital in wonderful NK Gallery. This schoolyear passed by even faster than any other. Maybe its due to becoming parents for the first time or maybe its just because when you do what you love time flies. Last year was a mixture of both.
Student recital was again a marathon. Next to piano and guitar we had guest performance from Kadri Saarna and “Maagiline Maa” by HeliStudio was aired also in Kuku Radio in Estonia.
After the student recital Yves and I “jumped” behind the piano to prepare for concerts in Estonia.
Soline travelled along with us as well. Listening to her singing in Estonia made me very proud. It was first time on the road with one of our students and I sincerely hope we can repeat this trip with Soline again. In October we’ll organise an “Estonian Evening” in HeliStudio so that everyone can hear more about this trip and see photos.
Here are some of the best moments from this summer:
We wish you a warm welcome to the final student recital of this schoolyear!
It will take place on the 2nd of June in NK Gallery in Antwerp. Next to piano solo and quatre-mains there are also several guitar and vocal performances to look forward to along with the guest-performance from Estonian singer Kadri Saarna. Music is vitamin M, so make time to come and enjoy HeliStudio piano-marathon!
Here is the official invite:
Every day students leave messages on our blackboard – this one is from Rocco. What a joy to be his teacher!
Our son is also starting to warm up his fingers! Zoë played Pärt and Robin-Aare wanted to add some personal groove to it. In Dutch I call this picture “kleine duiveltje aan de toetsen samen met een grote engel” 😉
This semester in HeliStudio was special in many ways.
First of all, our family has become a trio. Robin-Aare is the best creation Yves and I have ever made and last two months have been the happiest time in our lives.
Looking back at this year I sincerely wish to thank everyone in HeliStudio for your compassion, support and patience. Expecting a child was a wonderful journey, but there were also few challenging weeks in spring when I had to cancel lessons. I’m very grateful for all the good care and loving support I received from you during that time.
In the end of April several of my students took part of Cobra’s Classic Battle. In HeliStudio we had two bravehearts: Zoë and Katrien sent in their videos with classical pieces. Lets hope that next spring more students will join!
The student recital in June was great joy. Some students simply save their best performance for the very end 😉 What I enjoy most during these concerts is to witness how the ‘musical selfconfidence’ grows within each child.
It’s becoming a tradition to start up the new schoolyear with a performance at “Klassiek op het plein” in Zurenborg. This year Zoë, Soline and Nathan joined us. Yves and I are very curious about the (musical) future of these three youngsters.
In the meantime Robin-Aare was growing in ‘double-tempo’ and it was time to introduce Jan Debel in HeliStudio. He came to the first theory lesson and played Debussy – this made great first impression on everyone 😉 Jan continued my work in excellent manner.
This year has been all about becoming more open and accepting every day how it comes. I love my work very much – yet there is so much more I want to achieve with HeliStudio and also as a pianist. Now, looking back at this year it feels as Robin-Aare decided himself that ‘it was time’, so he came along, turning our lives upside-down and bringing us so much love and inspiration we didn’t knew existed.
We wish you all wonderful holidays and a happy new year!
Heli, Yves & Robin-Aare
